ISD 882 sets important back to school dates for 2018-19
The 2017-18 school year is moving full steam ahead toward the finish line, and while we don’t want to make anyone start looking past summer, we do want to help you be prepared for the next school year!
Like in recent years, Monticello School District will be staggering Welcome Back Days, Open Houses and First Days of School at district buildings this August and September. For more information, as well as the schedule of events, please visit HERE.
Kids Kitchen Summer Food Program
The Monticello School District is excited to partner with Monticello Help Center and Sodexo to provide a Kids Kitchen program this summer that will provide kid friendly foods to families with children ages 2 through 17! Bills aimed at reimbursing ISD 882 take another step forward
Thank you Monticello School Community! Bills introduced by Representative Marion O'Neill and Senator Bruce Anderson to reimburse a funding loss caused by a forced special education status change have been included on the House and Senate K-12 omnibus bills. School Board approves 2018-19 calendar
At the March 19 meeting, the Monticello School Board approved the calendar for the 2018-19 school year. The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 4 with the last day of the school year coming on Wednesday, June 5. Please find the full calendar HERE.
Monticello Public Schools announce finalists for superintendent position
The School Board for the Monticello Public Schools is pleased to announce that four finalists will be considered for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The four finalists are: Bill Adams (superintendent at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton); Todd Meyer (superintendent at Jackson County Central); Eric Olson (principal for the Monticello Public Schools); and Chris Swenson (superintendent at Holdingford).

ISD 882 Superintendent Survey
The Monticello School District has started its search for the next superintendent of Monticello Public Schools. The job posting is currently open, and will remain open into early March. Interviews will be held in late March. Currently, ISD 882 is seeking input from all stakeholders via a survey. Everyone's opinion is valued in this search, and the district is hoping everyone takes the time to fill out the survey, which can be found HERE.
Board approves new breakfast/lunch low balance policy
The Monticello School Board approved a policy update regarding low fund balances for the school breakfast and lunch program at their Feb. 5 meeting. The policy states that all students who wish to participate in the school breakfast and lunch program will receive a breakfast or lunch regardless of student's account balance. Monticello School Board approves meeting dates, changes start time
At the January 8 meeting, the Monticello School Board approved meeting dates for the remainder of the school year. The meetings will start at 6:15 p.m. in the Monticello Middle School Board Room. The dates are:
Monday, Jan. 22; Monday, Feb. 5; Monday, March 5; Monday, March 19; Monday, April 2; Monday, May 7; Monday, May 21

The start of the school year is an exciting time for Monticello Public Schools! New students, new teachers and new upgrades to our schools. This year, we start our school year with a new interim Superintendent.
Monticello Public Schools welcomes our new interim Superintendent, Dr. Michael Favor. Dr. Favor came from Robbinsdale Public Schools as Executive Director of Student Services and Schools since 2013. Dr. Favor was formally Principal at Cooper High School and a former Principal at Minneapolis North Community High School.
